The Virginia Maryland Scratch Bowlers Tour was created to promote scratch bowling in the D.C Metropolitan Area. This is a tournament club that conducts scratch events in the Maryland and Northern Virginia area. This club promotes scratch bowling on conditions that are conducive to competition, and promotes a greater interest in the game of bowling.
Membership is open to all male and female bowlers who are in good standing with USBC, VMSBT & PBA. All bowlers must purchase a VMSBT club card. Initial membership is $10.00- annual renewal is $5.00. Tournament officials are not eligible to bowl.
All members will receive a copy of the VMSBT Tournament Rules and a membership card, which is valid for one tournament year.
Bowlers will bowl 5 games of qualifying crossing 10 lanes. The field will be cut to the cashers. Those bowlers making it to the match play round will bowl 4 of match play games with all pin fall carried forward from the qualifying. The winner of each match game will receive 50 BONUS PINS. (i.e., if a bowler wins a match with a 230 game, he/she will add +80 pins to their total (30 pins above 200 & 50 bonus pins for winning the match). The 4th match game will be a position round match game (#1 vs. #2, #3 vs. #4, etc.). The bowler with the highest total pinfall with bonus will be the tournament champion. In the event of a tie after the 4th game of the match-play format, a 9th and 10th frame roll off will be bowled to determine the winner. Cash spot ties will be split evenly.
A minimum of 6 tournaments will be held each season. The tournaments are bowled in one day. These events will be held on Saturdays or Sundays unless rescheduled by VMSBT. Special events (e.g. scratch doubles, ladies tournament, tournament of champions, Holiday tournaments) may last up to two days.
The VMSBT tournament consist of one division, with special prizes paid to the High Female and High Senior (out of the money) for each tournament. Bowlers over the age of 50 are eligible for senior prizes. These prizes will be paid ONLY IF THERE IS A MINIMUM OF 5 FEMALE AND SENIOR ENTRIES.
Prize money will be awarded immediately after competition has concluded. All prize money will be returned 100% on a ratio of 1:5.
Before the conclusion of 6 games of qualifying, a complete accounting of all tournament prize money will available for participants. In the event of a protest, all monies will be withheld pending ruling of any disputes.
All VMSBT tournaments are USBC sanctioned. Any rule not covered above will be governed the current USBC rulebook as interpreted by the tournament director.
The tournament director’s decisions are final.

Entry Fee
Entry fee is $80. ($58 prize fund, $17 lineage, $5 administration fee)
Entry Fee is payable by CASH ONLY.
Prizes
Prize money will be awarded immediately after competition has concluded.
All prize money will be returned 100% on a ratio of 1:5.
High Female and High Senior (out of the money) will receive special prizes.
Bowlers over the age of 50 are eligible for senior prizes.

Equipment
There is not limit to the number of balls that may be utilized.
All equipment used must be written down on the participants’ ball registration card.
Tournament officials will conduct random checks during the tournament to ensure all balls are registered.
MISCELLANEOUS
Check-in will start at 8:45 am.
Lane assignment will be given at check in.
There will be no more than 6 bowlers per pair of lanes.
All VMSBT tournaments are USBC sanctioned.
Any rule not covered above will be governed the current USBC rulebook as interpreted by the tournament director.
VMSBT Points Breakdown
1st - 500 Points
2nd - 375 Points
3rd - 300 Points
All other finalist will receive 200 POINTS. Bowlers that cash but don’t make the match play round are awarded 100 points.
All bowlers will receive 25 POINTS FOR PARTICIPATION.
Leader of qualifying (6 game total) will receive 25 POINTS & $25 from VMSBT.
Year End Awards
At the conclusion of the tournament calendar year (Jan-Dec), the top 3 bowlers will receive the following cash prizes:
First Place - $200
Second Place - $100
Third Place - $50
